Delta wave activity (NREM3) is essential for brain restoration and memory consolidation.
Clinical Trial Shows Kunasan Technology Increases Deep Sleep in Adults with Insomnia
A recent randomized clinical trial conducted in partnership with Penn State has shown that Kunasan’s FREQUEN-ZZZ® platform neurostimulation technology significantly increases deep sleep in adults with insomnia symptoms. Improvements were tracked through overnight EEG sleep studies using polysomnography.
Results are now published in the abstract:
“1382: Investigational Sleep Pad Device Increases Deep Sleep of Midlife Adults with Insomnia Symptoms”

These findings underscore the role of slow wave sleep (also known as delta wave sleep) in long-term brain health. As noted in this CNN article, loss of deep sleep is increasingly linked to a higher risk of dementia.
This is the first in a series of studies as Kunasan continues to advance noninvasive technologies that support restorative sleep and cognitive health.

Announcement
Dr. Dan Gartenberg Joins Kunasan Inc as Chief Scientist
An Experienced Leader in Sleep Research
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Dan Gartenberg has agreed to join Kunasan Inc as Chief Scientist. Dr. Gartenberg has amassed a wealth of experience in sleep research, which will be invaluable to our team.
During his PhD training, Dr. Gartenberg worked for the Naval Research Laboratory Applied Research in AI, where he honed his skills in conducting empirical research and developing artificial intelligence models of human behavior. These combined skills have been essential in the research and development aspects of various projects and in disseminating scientific research findings.
Over the past decade, Dr. Gartenberg has successfully collaborated with leading sleep scientists, including Co-Investigators Orfeu Buxton at Penn State and Dr. Daniel Taylor at the University of Arizona. Together, they have published numerous papers on topics such as entraining slow wave sleep with sounds, sleep detection on wearables, and conducting clinical trials to develop new treatments for insomnia.
Dr. Gartenberg’s extensive experience and expertise in sleep research make him a perfect fit for Kunasan Inc. We are confident that his contributions will significantly advance our mission and help us achieve new milestones in the field of sleep science.
